As Malaysians, we all know there’s plenty of good food in Melaka – Nyonya food, Satay Celup, Chicken Rice Balls, Asam Pedas, Durian Cendol, etc. However, I would like to share a dish that is not in that famous Melaka food hunt list. Introducing, Hing Loong’s Taiwanese Pork Chop Noodles with Spicy Beef Soup.
Hing Loong’s menu includes Taiwanese Pork Chop Noodles, Beef Noodles, Pork Trotter Noodles and Mince Chicken Noodles. My personal recommendation is to go for the Pork Chop Noodles with Spicy Beef Soup.
The beef soup base is mild spicy, and has a nice blend of herbal taste to it. The noodles are very smooth and chewy. The pork chop was deep fried to each order so it’s ‘fresh’, crispy and hot when served. It’s well marinated, flavourful and tender. Do take note that the portion of the pork chop serving is small, so extra order can be considered to satisfy your meat loving cravings.
The star of the dish, according to many is the deep fried pork chop. However, I personally think the spicy beef soup steals the show… It’s really delicious, fragrant and flavourful; striking the perfect balance for my liking.
As of December 2018, it’s priced at RM7 for a large bowl. A good, tasty budget meal for locals and tourists. The ‘large’ serving portion is about ‘medium’ in my opinion (perhaps small for westerners), but works well for me, as it gives me more tummy space to eat other frugalicious Melaka food.
Go there earlier in the morning to avoid the lunch crowd. They open from 8am to 4.30pm daily, except Thursdays (latest from Google)
I mean, having a bowl of Taiwanese Pork Noodles in Spicy Beef Soup as your first meal of the day, is a good way to kick start your day or food hunting trip in Melaka!
