Curry Mee or Curry Laksa, is easily one of my top 10 local hawker favourites. No doubt there are a lot of “Best Curry Mee in KL” claims all over the Malaysia food blogsphere, and yes, most of them are fantastic… but I would like to share with you a hidden gem that was discovered in Puchong: Curry Pan Mee
The stall is located in food haven Puchong, at Kedai Kopi Min Ren. A Chinese couple (maybe in their late 40s?) runs the stall and they serve curry noodles with some side dish options of yong tau fu. If you are a pan mee lover like me, there is a good chance you will like this dish. The pan mee is springy and medium-thick, that works very well with the soup base.
The soup is mild spicy, and has a nice santan-ish base to it. It is not too rich, and is very flavourful. Simply fantastic.
The default order comes with cockles, long beans, taufu pot, and chicken meat. There are some additional side dish options like fried wan tan, fish balls, meat balls, etc. For this trip, I added fuchuk and meatball to my order.
Check out this bowl of heavenly curry pan mee:
I was overly excited with my bowl of curry pan mee that I did not really pay attention to the pricing of a normal order. For my bowl of small curry pan mee + 1 fuchuk + 1 meatball, it came up to RM8.50, which I think is pretty decent considering I added 2 side dishes. With a cup of Iced Chinese Tea, I had a satisfying, frugalicious lunch with my RM10 lunch budget.
Here is a badly taken picture of the stall:
